UAE condemns attack on ADNOC vessel in Strait of Hormuz

The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned the targeting of a vessel belonging to Emirati energy company ADNOC while it was transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

The UAE Foreign Ministry described the targeting of maritime navigation and the use of the Strait of Hormuz as a means of “blackmail” as acts of piracy by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The ministry called on Iran to immediately halt its attacks and fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz without conditions.

The statement comes amid heightened tensions around the strategic waterway, with multiple incidents involving commercial vessels reported since the start of the US-Iran war.

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical global shipping route connecting the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman, with disruptions posing risks to maritime trade and energy supplies.
