Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei issued directives calling for the comprehensive enhancement of defense and security readiness across the Iranian Armed Forces and the Basij paramilitary force.

Emphasizing the need to prepare for evolving security dynamics, Mojtaba stressed that the country must develop effective response capabilities against all levels of military, hybrid, and cognitive threats.

Structural integration 

As part of the operational guidelines, Khamenei ordered the completion of the merger between the General Staff of the Armed Forces and the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, pursuing a structural transition based on the directives of the late Supreme Leader.

Naval capabilities

Specific instructions were also directed toward Iran's maritime and intelligence branches, highlighting the necessity to upgrade naval equipment, advance operational skills, expand intelligence monitoring capabilities, and elevate overall combat readiness.

To reinforce national cohesion, the Supreme Leader called for deepening and expanding the culture of resistance and Basij mobilization as a essential pillar for building a strong and united Iran.

New leadership structure

Official decrees published on the Supreme Leader's website confirmed major leadership appointments across the Iranian Armed Forces, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and the Basij:

  • Major General Ali Abdollahi: Appointed Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces.
  • Brigadier General Kiumars Heydari: Appointed Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces.
  • Major General Ahmad Vahidi: Appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
  • Major General Mostafa Izadi: Appointed Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the IRGC.
  • Brigadier General Ali Ozmaei: Appointed Commander of the IRGC Navy.
  • Hossein Taeb: Appointed Head of the Basij Mobilization Organization.
