Iran's deputy speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Ali Nikzad, said Monday that the Strait of Hormuz will not return to the conditions that existed before the war, according to Iran's Mehr news agency.
Addressing parliament on regional developments, Nikzad said Iran had repeatedly warned what he called the "aggressor" that the strategic waterway would not return to its previous status.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran tried to inform the aggressor and deluded enemy of the fact that the Strait of Hormuz is not going to return to the pre-war conditions during the days of the war," Nikzad said.
He claimed the US and ‘Israel’ have come to understand that reopening the strait cannot be achieved through military means and would require accepting what he described as a "new order" in the region.
Nikzad said that despite the importance of the Strait of Hormuz, Iran's immediate priority is addressing its economic difficulties.
His remarks come as Tehran and Oman continue discussions over a temporary navigation arrangement for the strategic waterway, while Iran maintains demands related to the US naval blockade and sanctions.
