Houthis claim drone strike on Saudi Aramco facility in Jizan

Yemen’s Houthi movement said Sunday that it targeted a facility belonging to Saudi oil giant Aramco in Jizan with a drone.

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said in a post on X that the group’s forces had “successfully targeted the Aramco refinery in Jizan with a drone,” claiming the strike was accurate.

Saree said the attack was carried out in response to what he described as Saudi drones violating the airspace of Yemen’s Saada and Hajjah provinces.

Saudi Arabia’s Energy Ministry said firefighting teams from Aramco’s industrial security services had extinguished a fire that broke out early Sunday at one of the facilities linked to the Aramco refinery in Jizan.

The ministry said the fire was brought fully under control and that no injuries or deaths were reported among workers or emergency response teams.

The incident follows previous attacks that damaged the Jizan refinery, which has a processing capacity of 400,000 barrels per day, forcing a temporary shutdown late last month.
