Internal Security Forces in Tartus Governorate, in a joint security operation with the General Intelligence Service, thwarted an attempt to smuggle a shipment of weapons and ammunition heading toward Lebanese territory.
In an official statement released via Telegram on Saturday, the Internal Security Forces confirmed that the entire shipment was intercepted and seized prior to being smuggled across the border.
The operation follows an announcement made last month by the Ministry of Interior, in which specialized units intercepted a massive shipment of specialized weaponry on the Syrian–Iraqi border before it could enter Syrian territory.
Reaffirming its commitment to regional stability and territorial integrity, the Ministry reiterated that protecting national borders and preserving sovereignty remain non-negotiable priorities.
"The Ministry of Interior will not allow Syrian territory to be used as a corridor or launchpad for weapons smuggling, or for executing any activities that threaten the security of the Syrian Arab Republic or neighboring countries."
