  • Abu Dhabi says the attack violates UN Security Council Resolution 2817 and threatens maritime and energy security.

The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned what it described as “Iranian aggression” against an ADNOC tanker while it was transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement, the UAE Foreign Ministry said the attack constituted a “flagrant violation” of UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which emphasizes freedom of navigation and rejects attacks on commercial vessels in international waters.

The ministry said targeting commercial shipping and using the Strait of Hormuz as a means of pressure or economic leverage amounted to piracy by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

It warned that such actions pose a direct threat to regional stability and global energy security.
