Pro-Palestinian protesters gather outside Chicago ‘Israeli’ consulate

Pro-Palestinian protesters gathered outside Chicago’s ‘Israeli’ Consulate to protest escalating settler violence in the West Bank.

Hundreds of demonstrators, organized by local pro-Palestinian groups under Chicago’s Coalition for Justice in Palestine, assembled outside the consulate before marching through downtown streets toward the Trump Tower area.

Participants waved Palestinian flags and carried signs reading “Hands Off the West Bank” and “Arms Embargo Now.”

Throughout the demonstration and march, the crowd chanted slogans including “Israel out of Palestine, long live the intifada,” “From the river to the sea, Palestine is almost free,” “Netanyahu, you will see, Palestine will be free,” “Say it loud and say it clear, we don’t want no Zionists here,” and “Not a penny, not a dollar, we won’t pay for the West Bank slaughter.”

At a rally near Trump Tower, speakers focused on recent incidents in the West Bank, including a late-July confrontation in the village of Tell near Nablus.

An organizer with the Palestinian Youth Movement condemned the escalation, stating that the “Zionist entity is moving to finish what it has pursued for generations: the theft of all of Palestine and the expulsion of all Palestinian people from their land.”

She described “village by village” attacks designed to displace communities, noting that thousands have been driven from areas including Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nur Shams amid funding for new settlements.

An organizer with the US Palestinian Community Network also spoke, asserting that ‘Israeli’ settlers are “funded and encouraged by their government to murder Palestinians, to sexually assault Palestinians, to harass Palestinians every single day.”

She said settlers “have killed a 10-year-old boy,” beaten “a farmer and his wife,” and “destroyed Palestinian stores all across the West Bank,” while ‘Israeli’ officials had “promised to turn the West Bank into Gaza.”

The speaker criticized AIPAC as “toxic” and urged continued pressure on politicians through BDS Chicago.

Palestinian media outlets reported that dozens of supporters, including members of Arab and Muslim communities, took part in the action outside the consulate.

Demonstrators condemned attacks by settlers against Palestinian civilians, noting that dozens of Palestinians have been killed by such violence in recent years, and called on the US administration to take a firmer stance, end support they said contributes to the violations, protect Palestinian civilians, and halt colonial expansion.
