US, Jordan sign joint strategic objective agreement

The United States and Jordan signed a four-year bilateral strategic objective agreement Tuesday, committing $354.6 million in US foreign assistance to the Kingdom.
The agreement was signed by US Ambassador to Jordan Jim Holtsnider and Jordanian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan.
According to the US Embassy, the agreement marks a new phase in bilateral cooperation and aligns with the President of the United States Donald Trump's "America First" foreign assistance agenda.
The four-year strategic objective document requires mutual agreement on clear objectives, meaningful Jordanian co-investment and ownership, and a defined pathway toward reducing reliance on US support.
The framework is also designed to provide greater accountability for US foreign assistance while expanding opportunities for American businesses. It also promotes the use of US technology and innovation.
The US Embassy said the agreement also aims to strengthen Jordan by enabling government ministries to enhance oversight and better utilize the capabilities of the Jordanian workforce.
