Iraq is holding talks with Iran aimed at ensuring the smooth passage of oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz, Oil Minister Bassem Mohammed Khudair said on Tuesday.
According to Iraq's state-run Iraqi News Agency (INA), Khudair said the discussions are focused on maintaining the uninterrupted movement of oil shipments through one of the world's most important maritime energy routes.
Khudair expressed optimism that the negotiations would produce positive results in the coming days.
"We hope to reach significant understandings in the coming days that will contribute to the protection and ease of passage of shipments and tankers," he said, according to INA.
