A severe bus accident on Friday morning left at least 25 people dead and 44 others injured, according to a provisional assessment issued by Civil Protection.

The tragedy occurred along the descent of El Kerma on National Route 24 (RN 24), located in the wilaya of Boumerdès. The coach, which was traveling from Sétif, skidded off the road before falling into a ravine.

The specific reasons behind the accident have not been specified.

Emergency response underway 

In response to the crash, Civil Protection deployed significant human and material resources, including 11 ambulances, to conduct rescue and recovery efforts. Operations at the scene were continuing in the early afternoon.

Prime Minister visits crash site

Following the disaster, Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb traveled directly to the location of the tragedy.
