The referee blew the final whistle on a thrilling Arab showdown between Jordan and Algeria at Levi's Stadium in San Francisco, confirming a dramatic 2–1 victory for the Desert Warriors after a second-half comeback.

Fans witnessed a tense World Cup night as the Nashama took the lead in the first half before substitute Nadhir Benbouali and star forward Amine Gouiri inspired Algeria's comeback, securing three valuable points and keeping their hopes alive in Group J.

Jordan's historic opener (36')

Nizar Al Rashdan scored Jordan's second-ever FIFA World Cup goal with a low strike following an assist from Mousa Al Taamari.

Equalizer from a header (69')

Substitute Nadhir Benbouali headed home a precise cross from Riyad Mahrez following a corner kick to level the score.

Algeria's winner (82')

Amine Gouiri capitalized on a loose ball inside the penalty area after another corner, firing home from close range to put Algeria ahead.

Petkovic's adjustments

After Algeria took the lead, head coach Vladimir Petkovic moved to protect the advantage by bringing on Zineddine Belaïd for Gouiri and Jaouen Hadjam for Rayan Aït-Nouri.

Salami's response

Jordan coach Jamal Al Salami attempted to turn the tide in the 85th minute, introducing Ali Azaizeh for Al Taamari and Mohammad Abu Hashish for Mohannad Abu Taha, but Algeria's defense held firm until the final whistle.

Algeria came behind to beat Jordan 2-1 in a World Cup Group J game on Monday, eliminating the Asian debutants from the tournament.

Amine Gouiri equalized Nizar al-Rashdan's opening goal before Nadhir Benbouali scored Algeria's winner in the 82nd minute in Santa Clara.

The win gives Algeria hope of progressing to the knockout round if they can beat Austria in Kansas City on Saturday.

Austria lost 2-0 to Argentina earlier on Monday, leaving the South Americans top of Group J on six points.
