'Israeli' security forces arrested an 'Israeli' settler of the West Bank on Wednesday morning accused of wearing an 'Israeli' military uniform and using military gear during violent clashes against Palestinians in the town of Huwara.

The suspect, a man in his 20s who serves on his settlement's local civil defense team, was apprehended in a joint operation conducted by the 'Israel' Police, Border Police, and the Shin Bet ('Israeli' Security Agency).

Weeks on the run

The investigation stems from video footage capturing early June violence in Huwara, which involved stone-throwing and the use of clubs between 'Israeli' settlers and Palestinians.

Several Palestinians required medical treatment and hospitalization following the clashes.

Police noted that the suspect appeared in military uniform equipped with a standard-issue M-16 rifle and a handgun, though no gunfire was reported during the incident.

While Army Radio initially reported masked settlers and multiple injuries, parts of those early claims were later denied by the 'Israeli' military.

Although investigators identified the suspect early in the inquiry and filed an indictment, he successfully evaded law enforcement for several weeks before his capture on Wednesday morning.

Security forces seized the weapons in his possession upon arrest, and police are expected to request an extension of his detention as proceedings continue.
