'Israeli' Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu departed for Washington, D.C., on Monday ahead of a scheduled meeting with the President of the United States, Donald Trump.

According to Netanyahu's office, the prime minister took off shortly before 1 p.m. local time from Nevatim Airbase near Beersheba.

Netanyahu is expected to meet Trump on Tuesday. During his visit, he is also scheduled to attend a funeral service for late US Senator Lindsey Graham.

Unlike previous official visits, Netanyahu did not take journalists aboard the state aircraft, Wing of Zion, for the trip.
