Hamas has praised a stabbing operation near Nablus in the occupied West Bank, describing it as a "heroic stabbing operation" carried out in response to the ongoing war on the Gaza Strip and escalating actions by 'Israeli' forces in the occupied Palestinian territories.

In a statement published on its Telegram channel, the movement said the attack reflected "widespread anger" over what it described as 'Israeli' aggression in the Gaza Strip, intensified raids by 'Israeli' forces and settlers in the occupied West Bank, and actions targeting Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Hamas said the operation followed what it described as the "desecration" of Al-Aqsa Mosque and recent settler attacks east of Nablus.

"This heroic operation affirms that our Palestinian people will not allow this aggression to go unpunished, and that the resistance will remain alive and growing as long as the occupation remains on our land and desecrates our holy sites," the statement said.

Earlier, the 'Israeli' military said an 'Israeli' civilian was stabbed during the incident near the settlement of Itamar, southeast of Nablus.
