The United States has carried out its 12th consecutive night of strikes on Iran, targeting military sites that Washington says are linked to attacks on commercial shipping.
In a statement on Wednesday, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the latest wave of strikes was aimed at "further degrading Iran's ability to attack civilian mariners and commercial vessels."
According to CENTCOM, the operation targeted Iranian military assets, including maritime capabilities, missile and drone storage facilities, coastal surveillance sites, and air defense systems.
The command said US forces have struck dozens of land-based Iranian military sites throughout the month while continuing to enforce a maritime blockade.
"As of today, CENTCOM has redirected nine commercial vessels and disabled one to prevent ships from entering or departing Iranian ports," the statement said.
CENTCOM added that more than 50,000 US service members are currently deployed across the Middle East and "remain highly vigilant, focused, lethal, and ready."
