In a statement posted on Telegram, the group said it had "carried out a qualitative military operation targeting two Saudi oil tankers that violated the blockade," identifying the vessels as the Encelia and the Layla.
Earlier on Wednesday, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that a tanker had been struck by an unidentified projectile approximately 70 nautical miles southwest of Al Shuqaiq, Saudi Arabia.
"The Master of a tanker reports being struck by an unknown projectile which has caused a fire onboard that the crew is currently fighting," UKMTO said in a statement.
The British maritime security monitor did not identify the vessel involved or attribute responsibility for the attack. It was not immediately clear whether the incident reported by UKMTO was linked to the Houthi claim.
