In the wake of the death of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei—killed in US-‘Israeli’ airstrikes on February 28—his son and successor, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, has issued a strong vow of revenge.

In a written message released following massive funeral ceremonies, Mojtaba Khamenei declared that avenging his father’s death and other “martyrs” of the recent conflicts is “the will of the nation” and “must inevitably” occur.

“We pledge to avenge the blood of the martyred leader and all the martyrs of these two wars from the criminal and disgraced killers,” the new Supreme Leader stated.

“This vengeance is the demand of the nation and must certainly be carried out... These criminals, whose list from top to bottom exists, will take to the grave the wish for a peaceful death in bed.”

Shortly after the message, Tehran’s Hamshahri newspaper—owned by the municipality and aligned with hardliners—published an infographic online featuring 13 foreign leaders portrayed as targets.

Trump and Netanyahu appeared at the top with sniper crosshairs on their foreheads, while others were depicted in orange prison uniforms.

The full list of 13 includes:

  1. US President Donald Trump
  2. ‘Israeli’ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
  3. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni
  4. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer
  5. French President Emmanuel Macron
  6. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz
  7. ‘Israeli’ Defense Minister Israel Katz
  8. ‘Israeli’ Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar
  9. ‘Israeli’ army chief Eyal Zamir
  10. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio
  11. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth
  12. CENTCOM Commander Brad Cooper
  13. US Ambassador to ‘Israel’ Mike Huckabee.

Iran has accused European nations of complicity in the strikes by allowing US aircraft to use their airspace and failing to condemn the attacks.

The publication follows fiery rhetoric at Khamenei’s funeral, including chants and banners targeting Trump and Netanyahu.

There is no indication that the specific names were directly endorsed by Mojtaba Khamenei or represent an official operational Iranian government hit list, though the Supreme Leader referenced the existence of such a roster.

Trump has previously responded to Iranian threats by warning of massive retaliation. In a recent Truth Social post, he stated that “a thousand missiles are ready” targeting Iran if any assassination attempt occurs against him.
