  • CENTCOM accuses Iran of targeting civilians, saying attacks on commercial ships and Gulf states have killed, wounded or left nearly a dozen crew members missing.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) has accused Iran of deliberately targeting civilians across the Middle East, saying Iranian forces attacked seven commercial vessels over the past week.

CENTCOM commander Admiral Brad Cooper said the attacks left nearly a dozen civilian crew members dead, missing or wounded.

Cooper also accused Iran of launching dozens of missiles and drones towards neighbouring Gulf countries, describing the attacks as part of a broader campaign that threatened regional security and international shipping.

“We are holding Iran accountable for actions that continue to endanger civilian lives,” Cooper said in a statement released by CENTCOM.
