Jordan’s Armed Forces said its air defense systems intercepted and shot down four missiles that entered the kingdom’s airspace from Iran early Tuesday.
A military source at the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces said the interceptions were carried out successfully as part of measures to protect the country’s sovereignty, security and the safety of its citizens. The source said there were no casualties or material damage.
The military added that Royal Engineering Corps teams were deployed to deal with missile debris that fell in several locations, securing the sites in line with approved technical and security procedures.
The source said the Jordanian Armed Forces remain on the highest level of readiness and continue to monitor developments to respond to any threat targeting the kingdom or its airspace.
The military stressed that any attempt to violate Jordan’s sovereignty or airspace would be met with force in accordance with the rules of engagement and national interests, adding that the armed forces would take all necessary measures to protect the country’s security and stability.
The source also urged the public to rely on official sources for information and avoid spreading rumors or unverified reports.
