UAE says Iranian missiles struck two national vessels near Strait of Hormuz

The UAE Ministry of Defence said two Emirati-flagged vessels were targeted by two Iranian missiles in the southern passage of the Strait of Hormuz, inside Omani territorial waters.

The ministry said one crew member was killed and eight others were injured, including four who suffered serious injuries, following the attack.

It added that the strikes caused material damage to both vessels after fires broke out onboard, but the blazes were brought under control.

The UAE condemned what it called a "blatant attack" on the vessels, saying it represented a serious violation of international law and threatened regional security and stability.

The ministry said the UAE reserves its "full right to respond" to the escalation and will take all necessary measures to protect its territory.

US military launches third night of strikes on Iran

The US military said Monday it had launched a fresh salvo of attacks on Iran, marking the third night in a row that it had struck the country, as a deal to end the war falters.

"These strikes will continue imposing a heavy cost on Iranian forces and degrade their ability to attack innocent civilians and commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz," US Central Command said in a statement on social media, noting the strikes began at 4:45 pm (2045 GMT).
