US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on X that it completed a new wave of offensive strikes against Iran on July 12, saying the operation targeted dozens of sites at multiple locations.

According to the statement, the strikes were aimed at degrading Iran's ability to continue attacks on international shipping transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

CENTCOM said the operation targeted Iranian military air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats. It added that the strikes were carried out using US fighter aircraft, naval vessels, one-way attack aerial drones, and, for the first time, one-way attack sea drones.

The command described the Strait of Hormuz as a vital maritime corridor for global trade and said Iran does not control the waterway.

CENTCOM also said US forces remain "postured and prepared" to ensure freedom of navigation for commercial shipping despite what it described as Iran's continued aggression, harassment, threats, and arbitrary declarations.
