  • Trump says US strikes on Chabahar were retaliation for Iran's alleged attack on ships, warning that any further attacks "will get much worse."

US President Donald Trump said US strikes on the southeastern Iranian city of Chabahar were carried out in retaliation for what he described as Iran's "bombing of ships" a day earlier.

Posting on Truth Social, Trump shared a post from the Open Source Intel account (@Osint613) that included an image purportedly showing the strikes on Chabahar.

"This is in retribution for yesterday's bombing of ships by Iran. If it happens again, it will get much worse!" Trump wrote.

Open Source Intel publishes correction

Open Source Intel later acknowledged that the image it shared and which Trump reposted had been inaccurately attributed to the reported Chabahar strikes.

The account wrote that the image “circulated in Iranian accounts” but was “inaccurately attributed to tonight,” adding: “Our mistake… caught and corrected.”

Open Source Intel said the image had been widely shared before the correction was issued, but stressed that it takes responsibility for the error. “What matters is what happens next: we own it, we fix it, we move on,” the account said.

The correction raises questions over the verification of the imagery that was used to support claims about the reported strikes, though Trump’s statement about retaliation remained unchanged.
