'Israeli' forces shelled the village of Abidin in the western countryside of Syria’s Daraa province on Sunday evening with artillery fire, according to a correspondent for the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
The SANA correspondent added that 'Israeli' aircraft continued to fly over the countryside of Quneitra and Daraa in southern Syria, coinciding with the reported artillery shelling of the village.
Earlier on Sunday, the 'Israeli' military said it had killed “armed militants” in what it described as a security zone in southern Syria on Saturday, adding that it would continue operations in the area to remove what it called threats to 'Israeli' civilians and soldiers.
In a separate development, SANA reported that an 'Israeli' force consisting of four military vehicles advanced toward the town of Maariya in the Yarmouk Basin area of western Daraa countryside, reaching Abidin village and the Tal al-Mughur area after departing from the Al-Jazeera base.
The agency also reported that an 'Israeli' force of eight military vehicles had advanced on Saturday toward the town of Jamlah, where it deployed in residential neighborhoods and searched civilian homes. This came one day after seven 'Israeli' vehicles reportedly entered Maariya village, set up a checkpoint east of a mosque, and carried out searches and interrogations before withdrawing.
SANA further stated that 'Israeli' forces positioned at Tal al-Mughur opened fire toward surrounding agricultural land.
Syrian authorities say 'Israel' continues to violate the 1974 Disengagement Agreement through repeated incursions into southern Syria, including raids, arrests, land clearing operations, and artillery fire targeting civilians.
Damascus has repeatedly said that all 'Israeli' measures on Syrian territory are “null and void” under international law, calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities, stop the violations, and ensure a full 'Israeli' withdrawal from southern Syria.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
