Tehran's judiciary has reported the detention of 3,292 individuals in recent months on charges of cooperating with "the enemy," primarily ‘Israel’.
The announcement by judiciary spokesperson Asghar Jahangir highlights an intensified security crackdown amid heightened tensions.
According to Jahangir's statement to the semi-official Student News Network (SNN), 684 of those arrested are accused of carrying out "operational activities" for ‘Israel’.
These individuals are alleged to have assisted in intelligence or sabotage efforts linked to ‘Israeli’ operations during the recent hostilities.
An additional 1,258 detainees face charges related to political propaganda and media activities against the state.
Authorities claim these actions undermined national security and supported hostile narratives, often in coordination with external actors.
Judicial proceedings have advanced swiftly, with 1,061 indictments already filed. Hundreds of assets belonging to the suspects have been identified and confiscated, with properties linked to around 100 individuals in Isfahan province placed under state control following judicial review.
The arrests form part of a broader enforcement under laws intensifying punishments for cooperation with hostile states.
Iranian officials describe the detainees as "traitors to the homeland" and mercenaries who aided US-‘Israeli’ efforts, including espionage inside Iran.
