New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani delivered a sharp rebuke against the American ‘Israel’ Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) during a rally on Thursday evening.
Speaking at an event supporting progressive candidates in upcoming New York primaries, Mamdani described the prominent pro-‘Israel’ lobbying organization as “monsters.”
In a fiery approximately 30-minute address, Mamdani stated that “the monsters that we are up against, they take many different forms,” before specifically targeting AIPAC.
He accused the group of spending “millions in dark money” to influence elections, preserve power, and “turn us against one another” rather than pursuing necessary moral changes.
Mamdani further characterized AIPAC as an entity “for whom the only thing more frightening than democracy being allowed to run its course is an end to genocide and Netanyahu’s wars.”
His remarks also included criticism of ‘Israeli’ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and ‘Israel’s’ military assault on Gaza.
The rally, which featured Senator Bernie Sanders, aimed to bolster candidates such as Brad Lander, Claire Valdez, and Darializa Avila Chevalier ahead of the primaries.
Mamdani’s comments reflect his longstanding criticism of ‘Israel’s’ policies and US support for them.
AIPAC, a bipartisan lobbying group that advocates for strong US-‘Israel’ relations, has spent significant sums supporting pro-‘Israel’ candidates in recent cycles, including through super PACs.
Mamdani, elected in 2025 as the city’s first Muslim and South Asian mayor, has maintained a vocal pro-Palestinian stance. His victory was notable despite substantial opposition from pro-‘Israel’ groups.
