Iran has issued a sharp warning to the United States, threatening a “crushing response” if Washington breaches an interim memorandum of understanding expected to be formally signed on Friday.

The warning came from Ebrahim Azizi, head of Iran’s parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, who said any violation of the agreement would trigger retaliation.

Azizi said Iran’s position had strengthened through what he described as sustained regional pressure, claiming that “Iranian resilience forced a strategic pivot” that brought the United States to negotiations “on Iran’s terms.”

He added that Washington must demonstrate commitment by fully adhering to all clauses of the memorandum.

In his remarks posted on social media, Azizi also linked the agreement to wider regional dynamics, calling for an end to what he described as “the war against Lebanon” and urging full compliance with the deal’s provisions.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has said the “agreed-upon peace must now hold” following a G7 alignment on the US-Iran agreement, framing the deal as a rare opportunity for stability in the Middle East and the wider global economy.

Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters warned that continued military attacks in southern Lebanon could trigger a strong response from Tehran.

In a statement, the headquarters said that if the 'Israeli' army does not halt its operations in southern Lebanon, it should "expect a harsh response" from Iran.

'Israel' asked the US to see the text of the Iran agreement and was rejected, an Israeli source tells CNN, leaving a key US ally in the dark about a deal that’s already being widely criticized.

The source said part of the reason the request was turned down was because the Trump administration feared 'Israeli' Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would leak the agreement before it was officially released.

On Monday evening, Netanyahu held a news conference in which he hardly addressed the agreement in his eight-minute opening statement. When asked afterward, Netanyahu said he and Trump “do not always see eye to eye.”

He also said, “We still do not know what the agreement will be.”

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said Germany is prepared to play a role in supporting peace efforts in the Middle East following a preliminary agreement between Iran and the United States aimed at de-escalating regional tensions.

Speaking at the G7 summit, Merz said Berlin has consistently expressed readiness to contribute to international stability initiatives.

“We have always said that we are ready to play our part,” he said, adding that Germany has already deployed “the first mine-clearing ships” to the region.

France has said that Group of Seven leaders have explored alternatives to transporting oil from the Gulf, aiming to reduce dependence on the Strait of Hormuz.

“We have now handed Iran de facto control over the strait, a weapon more powerful than any nuke,” one of the sources familiar with the US intelligence assessments told CNN.

Iran and Oman have reaffirmed their commitment to international law governing maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, according to the Oman News Agency.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi emphasized the importance of ensuring the “safe and free passage” of shipping through the strategic waterway during a phone call.

The discussion comes as the United States and Iran prepare to sign a memorandum of understanding later this week.
