A pack of jackals attacked ‘Israeli’ settlers camping overnight at Duga Beach on the northeastern shore of the Sea of Galilee (Kinneret), injuring 11 people, three of them minors.

The event occurred in the early hours of Saturday, prompting a medical response by ‘Israeli’ authorities.

According to reports from ‘Israeli’ emergency service Magen David Adom (MDA) and Poriya Medical Center, the victims sustained bites and scratches while sleeping in tents.

Seven individuals, including a 12-year-old girl who suffered deep facial bites, were transported to the hospital for treatment.

Two others received on-site care, and additional cases were reported later. All victims were administered rabies vaccinations as a precautionary measure.

Twelve-year-old Alice, one of the injured, recounted mistaking a jackal for her family dog as it entered their tent. “I thought it was my dog and started petting it,” she told reporters, describing the sudden attack in the darkness.

‘Israeli’ authorities, including the Ministry of Health and the Nature and Parks Authority (RTG), have expressed concern that the aggressive behavior indicates possible rabies infection.

The suspected animals have not yet been captured, leading to heightened warnings for the public to avoid contact with wildlife and to seek immediate medical attention following any bite or scratch.

While all victims were discharged after treatment, with most injuries classified as minor, one individual remained under observation.
