During the Rivolta Pride parade in Bologna on Saturday, a group of ‘Israelis’ participating in the event faced verbal harassment and physical aggression from other attendees, according to reports from Hebrew media.

Witnesses told Hebrew Channel 12 (N12) that the confrontation erupted after the ‘Israeli’ group displayed a rainbow version of the ‘Israeli’ flag. Other parade participants objected to the symbol, leading to an altercation in which members of the group were pushed.

One ‘Israeli’ participant recounted the hostility: “They screamed at us that we were murderers”.

The event, organized by Rivolta Pride—a network of LGBTQ+ collectives in Bologna—gathered participants at Giardini Margherita before marching to Parco della Montagnola.

This incident occurs against a backdrop of heightened tensions at some European Pride events involving expressions related to ‘Israel’.

In recent months, organizers of Rome Pride barred Italy’s Jewish LGBTQ+ group, Keshet Italia, from participating with a float unless it explicitly distanced itself from ‘Israel’s’ actions in Gaza, citing failure to condemn what they termed an ongoing “genocide”.
