A senior US administration official told Fox News that the United States and Iran have reached what was described as a “strong and powerful agreement,” according to the network.

The official said Iran would reopen the Strait of Hormuz without fees as part of the reported arrangement, alongside a phased easing of US restrictions linked to the blockade.

According to the same account, Washington would lift its measures in coordination with the reopening of the strategic waterway, a key global energy corridor.

The official also said a later stage of the deal would focus on clearing naval mines from the Strait of Hormuz.
