A senior US administration official told Fox News that a “strong and powerful agreement” has been reached between the United States and Iran, according to breaking remarks cited by the network.

The official said Iran would reopen the Strait of Hormuz without fees, in a move presented as part of a broader de-escalation arrangement.

According to the same source, US restrictions linked to the blockade would be lifted in parallel with the reopening of the strategic waterway.

The official added that a later phase of the agreement would focus on clearing naval mines from the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy route.
