  • Crown Prince Hussein voiced confidence in Al-Nashama ahead of the 2026 World Cup, praising the team's achievements and preparation.

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II expressed confidence in the Jordan national football team, Al-Nashama, ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, praising the squad's preparations and highlighting the transformative impact its achievements have had on Jordanian sport.

Speaking during an interview with beIN Sports from Al-Nashama's training camp in San Diego on Tuesday, the Crown Prince said the team's performances in its World Cup warm-up matches had been encouraging.

“The team's performance in the preparatory friendly matches was good,” he said, noting that results in such fixtures are not the most important measure of success.

“Winning or losing in friendly matches is not what matters because when it comes to the decisive moments, Al-Nashama always rise to the occasion,” he said, adding that the primary purpose of the matches was to help the players adapt to the atmosphere of the World Cup.

The Crown Prince said Jordan's historic football achievements over the past three years have created a sense of pride unlike anything previously experienced by Jordanians and have provided momentum for further investment in sports development.

“The achievements of Al-Nashama over the last three years have given us a feeling we experienced for the first time as Jordanians and have motivated us to continue developing the sports sector,” he said.

He praised the national team's performances in the AFC Asian Cup and the Arab Cup, saying the players had “raised our heads high and boosted our morale” through their determination and confidence on the pitch.

“The entire nation felt that this team resembles it and represents it,” the Crown Prince said. “Today, it provides us with an opportunity to showcase our Jordanian and Arab culture to the world.”

Despite acknowledging the challenges posed by Jordan's World Cup group, the Crown Prince said he remains confident that Al-Nashama will deliver a performance worthy of the country.

“Our group is not an easy one, but we have great confidence that Al-Nashama will perform honorably,” he said, adding that the players' morale is high and their physical and mental preparation is at the highest level.

The Crown Prince also highlighted the importance of long-term sports development, noting that several national team players are graduates of the Prince Ali Centers for Promising Footballers.

He said the experience of the current generation should be passed on to young talents to help build the future of Jordanian football and establish a clear and distinctive football culture in the Kingdom.

“Al-Nashama are not just a story of achievement and current joy,” he said. “We must continue investing in sports to reach advanced levels across all disciplines.”

The Crown Prince also expressed optimism about the performance of Arab teams at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, emphasizing the strong sense of unity among Arab nations in international competitions.

“As Jordanians, when any Arab team wins or qualifies, we are proud and happy for them just as we are for our own national team,” he said. “Any Arab achievement, whether by institutions or individuals, makes us proud and represents all of us. We are one nation with one goal and one vision.”
