Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has praised the technology ecosystem in ‘Israel’, saying the country “punches far above its weight” in innovation per capita during a virtual appearance at the 9th International Smart Mobility Summit.

Musk joined the event remotely from Texas, citing commitments linked to SpaceX operations. The summit was attended by industry leaders and officials from the 'Israeli' Ministry of Transport.

During the session, Musk said he is “a huge admirer” of innovation coming out of ‘Israel’, adding that it “must be number one by far” in innovation per capita.

His remarks drew applause from attendees, including officials and tech sector representatives. The discussion was moderated by Daniella Gera-Margaliot.

A large part of the conversation focused on artificial intelligence and the future of transport. Musk highlighted ongoing development in autonomous driving systems at Tesla, saying progress toward full self-driving capability is accelerating.

He also outlined broader predictions about automation, suggesting that AI-driven systems could reshape global mobility and economic structures over the next decade.

The session concluded with thanks from Israeli officials for Musk’s participation. He also expressed interest in expanding autonomous vehicle deployment in ‘Israel’, pending regulatory approval.
