- US Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib marked the Nakba anniversary in Congress and called for justice and the Palestinian right of return.
- She said Palestinians continue to face forced displacement and accused the government of ‘Israel’ of ongoing atrocities in Gaza.
Rashida Tlaib, the Palestinian American congresswoman, made a statement in Congress commemorating the Nakba, during which 'Zionist forces' expelled and ethnically cleansed an estimated 750,000 Palestinians during the founding of 'Israel' in 1948.
The Israeli apartheid regime is still committing genocide in Gaza and violently erasing entire communities across Palestine and Lebanon. We know the Nakba never ended; we are witnessing it live. pic.twitter.com/0FZWo9Qt1w

“We know the Nakba did not end in 1948,” Tlaib said.
“We all have witnessed it live. It continues to this day as the Israeli government commits genocide in Gaza, forcibly displacing Palestinians and kicking them out of their homeland,” she said.
“As we mark the 78th anniversary of the Nakba, we honour all those killed since the ethnic cleansing of Palestinian people began,” she added.
“True peace must be built on justice and the right of return for the Palestinian people.”
