Iran’s Guards said its bomb disposal teams “neutralized” more than 15 undetonated US missiles and bombs found in the city of Bandar Abbas, along with thousands of other munitions in other areas.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), in a statement cited by Iran’s Press TV, added that it also discovered thousands of bomblets in the northern province of Zanjan.
The statement said the missiles were mostly of the GBU and BLU types, adding they were transferred to “technical and research units” for the purposes of “reverse engineering”.
The IRGC’s bomb disposal recovered more than 9,500 bomblets in Zanjan, the report added.
The munitions recovered include the GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrators (bunker busters), which is launched by the US’ B-2 Spirit stealth bomber.
