The Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) said Thursday that the ‘Israeli’ navy intercepted 15 out of the 58 heading to Gaza overnight.

“Fifteen of our vessels abducted – our people at sea remain unaccounted for,” the GSF said in a statement.

The flotilla, made up of more than 50 boats, set sail in recent weeks from Marseille in France, Barcelona in Spain and Syracuse in Italy, and carried pro-Palestinian activists aiming to break the ‘Israeli’ blockade in Gaza.

The ‘Israeli’ military started intercepting the flotilla near the Greek island of Crete last night, hundreds of nautical miles from ‘Israel’.

“In a violent raid in international waters, Israeli naval forces have intercepted, boarded, and systematically disabled various boats of the Global Sumud Flotilla,” the GSF added in the statement.

“...after smashing engines and destroying navigation arrays, the military retreated — intentionally leaving hundreds of civilians stranded on powerless, broken vessels directly in the path of a massive approaching storm.”

“Furthermore, communications with multiple vessels have been jammed, severing their ability to coordinate or signal for help,” the organization added.

In late 2025, an initial flotilla of about 50 boats, composed of political figures and activists such as Sweden’s Greta Thunberg, was boarded by the ‘Israeli’ navy — illegally according to the organizers and Amnesty International.

The crew members were then arrested and expelled by ‘Israel’.
