'Not our war'

Addressing lawmakers in Parliament, the British Prime Minister delivered an unequivocal rejection of the US demands, asserting that the UK's military stance remains resolute.

Starmer told MPs, "My position on the Iran war has been clear from the start. We’re not going to get dragged into this war. It is not our war," making it clear that British military intervention is entirely off the table.

Prioritizing national interest over trade threats

Despite Trump's attempts to leverage a potential US-UK trade agreement to secure British military backing, Starmer emphasized that the country's foreign policy will not be swayed by economic ultimatums.

Starmer declared, "I’m not going to change my mind. I’m not going to yield," firmly pushing back against the diplomatic pressure from Washington. "It is not in our national interest to join this war, and we will not do so."
