The Iranian army said Thursday that it remains “at war,” even as a ceasefire has been accepted under the Islamic Republic’s conditions, according to the army’s spokesperson Mohammad Akrami Nia.

Nia said that the military stays at its “highest level of readiness” despite ongoing diplomatic efforts.

The spokesperson said Iran considers the acceptance of the ceasefire and the shift toward negotiations a “victory for the Iranian people.” He explained that Tehran forced the adversary to agree to the truce based on a ten-point proposal, which Iran set as essential conditions for halting military operations.

Americans, particularly President Trump, have proven “untrustworthy,” according to his statements, adding that the two rounds of warfare that took place during negotiations proves that the US’ commitments cannot be relied upon.

“Our fingers remain on the trigger,” Nia said.
