In a call with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pezeshkian "thanked Pakistan for its mediation efforts to stop the aggression against the Islamic republic," according to the presidency.

The call took place as foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Turkey prepared to meet in Islamabad for talks on the war in the Middle East.

'Israel' says the journalist killed, Ali Hassan Shaib, was allegedly a member of Hezbollah’s Radwan Force operating under the guise of a reporter.

According to the IOF, Shoeib was an operative in the Radwan Force’s intelligence unit while also working as a journalist for the Al-Manar TV channel.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the 'Israeli' strike that killed a journalist for Al Manar TV and another for Al Mayadeen channel in southern Lebanon on Saturday.

"Once again, the Israeli aggression violates the most basic rules of international law, international humanitarian law and the laws of war, by targeting journalists, who are ultimately civilians performing a professional duty," Aoun said in a statement released by the presidency.

"This is a blatant crime that violates all the norms and treaties under which journalists enjoy international protection in wars."

Sirens sound to announce end of alert period

Three Lebanese journalists, including a correspondent with another outlet, were killed on Saturday by an 'Israeli' strike that targeted their vehicle in southern Lebanon, a military source told AFP.

Al Shouaib of channel Al-Manar and Fatima Fatouni of Al-Mayadeen were killed in Jezzine, alongside Fatouni's brother, a cameraman, the source said.

Al-Mayadeen and Al-Manar confirmed the deaths of their journalists.

A fresh barrage of rockets was detected heading toward central 'Israel', including Tel Aviv and areas south of Jerusalem.

Danish shipping giant Maersk said operations had been temporarily halted at Oman's port of Salalah after a drone attack on Saturday injured one worker and damaged a crane.

Maersk, whose subsidiary APM Terminals runs the port, said "it was immediately evacuated and operations across the facility were temporarily suspended", predicting it would remain closed for 48 hours.

On Saturday, Iran said it had targeted a US logistics vessel "at a considerable distance from the port".

Air raid sirens blare across Jordan

Iran's military said on Saturday it had targeted a Ukrainian anti-drone system depot in the United Arab Emirates which it said was used to assist US forces.

"As the hideouts of American commanders and soldiers in Dubai were targeted... a Ukrainian anti-drone system depot that was located in Dubai to assist the US military ... was targeted and destroyed," Iran's military central operational command Khatam Al-Anbiya said in a statement carried by state TV.

Earlier on Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on an unannounced visit to the UAE that the two countries had agreed to cooperate on defence.

Countries across the Gulf are facing ongoing missile and drone strikes one month into the war in the Middle East.

Iran's military said Saturday that it had targeted a US logistics vessel near the Omani port of Salalah.

"A logistics vessel supporting the aggressive US army was targeted by the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran at a considerable distance from the port of Salalah in Oman," Ebrahim Zolfaghari, a spokesman for Iran's central military command said in a statement carried by state TV.

More than two dozen US troops have been wounded in Iranian attacks on a Saudi air base over the past week, according to two sources briefed on the matter.

Iran launched six ballistic missiles and 29 drones at Saudi Arabia’s Prince Sultan air base yesterday, injuring at least 15 US troops, five of them seriously, the sources said. US officials had initially reported at least 10 troops injured, including two seriously.

The base was targeted twice earlier this week, including an incident that wounded 14 US troops, the sources added.

Prince Sultan air base, located about 96 kilometers (60 miles) from Riyadh, is operated by the Royal Saudi Air Force but also hosts US personnel.

Foreign ministers from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt will meet in Islamabad for talks on the war in the Middle East, the government said on Saturday.

The foreign ministry said Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar had invited his counterparts and that they would be in the Pakistan capital on Sunday and Monday.

"During the visit, the Foreign Ministers will hold in-depth discussions on a range of issues, including efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region," a statement said.

An explosion was heard on Saturday morning near the international airport of Erbil, a city in Iraq's autonomous Kurdistan region, an AFP journalist reported and a witness said they saw smoke.

Erbil is home to a major US consulate complex, while its airport houses military advisors attached to a US-led international coalition.

Regular drone attacks by pro-Iran armed groups are usually intercepted by air defences.

The radar system at Kuwait's international airport was heavily damaged in a drone attack on Saturday, Kuwaiti authorities said.

The attack on the tiny Gulf country caused no casualties, a civil aviation spokesperson told Kuwait's official news agency, but the radar system was badly damaged.

The United States and Iraq will "intensify cooperation" to prevent pro-Iran attacks and ensure Iraqi territory is not used to launch assaults against US facilities, Washington's embassy in Baghdad said in a statement.

"The Iraqi and US sides decided to intensify cooperation to prevent terrorist attacks and ensure that Iraqi territory is not used as a launching point for any aggression against the Iraqi people, the Iraqi Security Forces, Iraqi strategic facilities and assets, as well as against US personnel, diplomatic missions, and the Global Coalition," the US embassy in Baghdad said in a statement posted on X on Friday.

Yemen's Houthis on Saturday claimed their first attack on 'Israel' since the start of the Middle East war a month ago.

In a statement posted on X, the group, which controls most of northern Yemen and targeted 'Israel' with drones and missiles throughout much of the Gaza war, said it had launched missiles at 'Israeli' military sites.

A few hours earlier, the 'Israeli' military said it had identified an attack from Yemen and was working to intercept it.

A drone attack on one of Oman's main ports wounded a foreign worker, the Gulf country's authorities said on Saturday.

Two drones hit the port of Salalah in the far south of Oman, a statement carried by the country's official news agency said, injuring the worker and causing "limited" damage to a crane.

Two 'Israeli' officers were severely injured, and seven soldiers sustained moderate injuries in separate clashes with Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) reported.

Yesterday (Friday), an IOF officer was severely wounded, and another officer was moderately injured by anti-tank missile fire during an encounter in southern Lebanon.

Overnight (Saturday), a separate incident saw an IOF officer severely injured and six soldiers moderately wounded after coming under rocket fire while operating in southern Lebanon.

Thailand announced an agreement with Iran permitting Thai vessels to pass through the strategic Strait of Hormuz, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said, according to AFP reports.

The deal comes amid heightened regional tensions, ensuring Thailand’s maritime trade routes remain open despite ongoing conflicts affecting the Gulf.
