'Israeli' prosecutors charge 14-year-old with spying for Iran, filming military sites and carrying out tasks for cryptocurrency.
'Israeli' prosecutors charged a 14-year-old boy on Wednesday with espionage, accusing him of carrying out missions on behalf of Iran, including filming the Kirya military headquarters in Tel Aviv.
According to the State Attorney’s Office, the minor, a resident of central 'Israel', allegedly contacted an Iranian agent via Telegram in April 2025 after responding to a job offer. The teen reportedly carried out tasks in exchange for cryptocurrency, opening four digital wallets that received over $1,170 in total.
The charges claim the boy filmed locations near Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center–Ichilov and Ramat Gan, where an elderly couple was killed in a recent Iranian missile strike, and captured Tel Aviv’s skyline including the Kirya military complex. He is also accused of posting graffiti across the city, including one reading, “We are committed to the covenant.”
Prosecutors say the Iranian agent allegedly tasked the teen with spying on Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and vandalizing his home with a reference to Iran’s first supreme leader, Ruhollah Khomeini. The boy reportedly postponed the plan until school vacations. He was also allegedly asked to rent an apartment near army headquarters but never completed the task.
During questioning, the minor reportedly tried to get a classmate to lie about the transfer of cryptocurrency.
Over the past two years, dozens of 'Israelis' have been charged with spying for Iran, many recruited via social media platforms such as Telegram. Most reportedly carried out tasks for payment. Last week, an army reservist serving in the Iron Dome air defense system was arrested and indicted on similar charges.
The case has been filed in the Tel Aviv Juvenile Court, with prosecutors charging the minor with maintaining contact with a foreign agent, passing intelligence to the enemy, and other offenses.
