U.S. embassy advises Americans in 'Israel' to depart via land routes, offering buses to Jordan amid ongoing travel challenges.
The U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem has advised American citizens in 'Israel' to consider departing the country via land routes, citing limited immediate options and ongoing coordination efforts to assist departures.
In a statement shared on its official Instagram account, the embassy said the fastest way to leave 'Israel' at this time is through overland crossings into neighboring countries, particularly Egypt and Jordan.
It noted that commercial flights remain available from airports in Egypt, including Sharm el-Sheikh and Cairo, as well as from Amman in Jordan.
The embassy added that the U.S. Department of State is organizing bus services to transport American citizens from 'Israel' to Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, starting March 23.
Under the “departure by land” plan, the embassy is offering assisted bus transport via the northern border crossing, known as the Jordan River/Sheikh Hussein crossing, for those needing help to leave.
U.S. citizens wishing to use the service have been asked to register through an online form, after which they will receive details about departure times and meeting points. Current departures are being arranged from both the Jerusalem and Tel Aviv areas.
Officials emphasized that travelers remain responsible for arranging their onward travel, including booking flights out of Amman.
The embassy said it will continue to provide updated information to U.S. citizens seeking to depart 'Israel' as the situation evolves.
