'Israel' faces more weeks of fighting against arch-foes Iran and Lebanese armed group Hezbollah, military spokesman Brigadier General Effie Defrin said on Sunday.

"Citizens of Israel, we face more weeks of fighting against Iran and Hezbollah," Defrin said in a televised briefing.

"With each passing day, we are further weakening the (Iranian) terror regime. We will not allow it or its proxies to threaten the citizens of Israel or the existence of the state of Israel."

'Israeli' emergency service, Magen David Adom (MDA), reported that one person was killed over the past 24 hours following Iranian missile strikes. The victim, a man in his 60s, died after being hit by shrapnel.

MDA said its crews treated 164 people during the same period, including 150 with physical injuries and 14 suffering from anxiety-related symptoms. Among the injured, 12 are in serious condition with wounds caused by shrapnel and blasts, 20 are in moderate condition, and 88 sustained mild injuries.

Since the start of the war, MDA reported treating 1,576 people. A total of 16 people have been killed in missile strikes, including 15 who died at the scene and one who later succumbed to injuries in hospital.

Residents in Erbil reported hearing a series of explosions on Sunday night as regional tensions continue.
