  • Casualties rise as conflict enters third day.
  • Mass displacement overwhelms relief efforts in south and Bekaa.

Lebanon’s Ministry of Health reported Wednesday that 72 people have been killed and 437 injured in the latest wave of Israeli airstrikes targeting multiple areas of the country since Monday.

The humanitarian situation is worsening, with over 83,000 people officially registered in shelters, according to Social Affairs Minister Hanine El-Sayed. Most of the displaced are from southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley.

The escalation follows Israel’s expansion of air operations, which it says are in retaliation for rocket and drone attacks by Hezbollah, claimed as revenge for the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Relief agencies report massive logistical challenges in providing food, medical care, and shelter to the growing number of displaced families, while political deadlock hampers efforts to de-escalate the conflict.

The situation highlights a mounting humanitarian crisis as airstrikes continue and displacement spreads across Lebanon.
