  • Attempted cyberattack targeted strategic wheat storage systems.
  • Incident traced to Iran, no damage reported.

Jordan’s National Cyber Security Center successfully intercepted a dangerous cyberattack aimed at the wheat silo management system of the Jordanian Public Corporation for Silos and Supply.

Details of the attack

Center Director Mohammed Al-Samadi said the monitoring system responded efficiently to the threat. Technical investigations traced the source of the attack to Iran.

The hackers attempted to manipulate temperature control systems in the silos, potentially causing significant damage to the kingdom’s strategic wheat reserves. The attempt was immediately neutralized, and Al-Samadi confirmed there was no impact on silo operations or the safety of the stored grain.

National readiness and reporting

Al-Samadi emphasized that the monitoring system operates around the clock to detect suspicious activity. Measures taken include:

  • Heightened alert: All critical and sensitive institutions have been instructed to strengthen precautionary measures.
  • Emergency hotline: The center designated the number 065900500 for institutions to report potential cyber threats.
  • International standards: The incident was handled according to global best practices to ensure the resilience of digital infrastructure.

The attempted attack comes amid a series of threats targeting food security and vital facilities in the region, highlighting the crucial role of Jordan’s Cyber Security Center in protecting national resources.
