Jordan’s Highway Patrols Department launched a nationwide Ramadan initiative aimed at promoting road safety and reducing dangerous driving behavior around sunset time.

Under the slogan “Don't rush, your iftar is on us,” the campaign combines traffic enforcement with community outreach, targeting motorists on highways during the critical minutes before breaking the fast.

As part of the initiative, officers are distributing light iftar meals along with traffic awareness brochures at 15 locations across major highways. The goal is to discourage speeding and reckless driving, which often increase shortly before sunset as drivers hurry to reach home in time for iftar.

Authorities said the campaign seeks to prevent serious accidents caused by exceeding speed limits and other risky behaviors during peak evening hours in Ramadan.

The department also confirmed that all highway patrol locations remain on standby to assist stranded motorists and provide necessary services throughout the holy month, wishing safety for all road users.
