Pawtucket Police Chief Tina Goncalves told reporters that three additional victims were transported to local hospitals in critical condition. “It appears this incident was targeted and may stem from a family dispute,” she said, without providing details on the suspect or the ages of those killed. She noted that two of the deceased appeared to be adults.

The shooting took place at the Dennis Lynch Arena, located a few miles outside Providence. Authorities are still piecing together the events and are speaking with witnesses to determine what led to the attack.
Outside the arena, distraught families and high school hockey players in full uniforms were seen hugging one another before boarding buses to leave. Local roads surrounding the arena were closed as police maintained a heavy presence, with helicopters patrolling the area.
Pawtucket, a city of fewer than 80,000 residents located just north of Providence and bordering Massachusetts, is known as the headquarters of toy company Hasbro.
Authorities have not yet released further information on the suspect’s identity or motive, and investigations remain ongoing.
