Oman’s mediation role
Oman has long served as a key diplomatic channel between Iran and regional and Western actors, hosting discreet negotiations and facilitating dialogue during periods of heightened tension.
Ahmadian, a senior figure in Iran’s security establishment, was appointed secretary of the Supreme National Security Council in 2023. The council is the country’s highest body responsible for national security and foreign policy coordination.
