His Majesty King Abdullah II received Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Amman on Monday, reaffirming Jordan’s condemnation of illegal 'Israeli' measures aimed at entrenching settlements and imposing sovereignty over the West Bank.

During the meeting at Al-Husseiniya Palace, which addressed the overall developments in the Palestinian territories, the King emphasized Jordan’s full rejection of any decisions that violate the just and legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to establish an independent state based on the two-state solution.

His Majesty highlighted the importance of sustaining bilateral coordination and working with regional and international partners to pressure 'Israel' to halt its dangerous escalation, which risks inflaming the conflict in the region.

Regarding Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, the King reaffirmed Jordan’s continued historical role in protecting these sites under its Hashemite custodianship.

On Gaza, King Abdullah II stressed the need to implement the second phase of the ceasefire agreement and to ensure unhindered entry of humanitarian aid to alleviate the catastrophic humanitarian situation.

The King also reiterated support for the Palestinian Authority’s reform efforts, aimed at serving the interests of the Palestinian people.

President Abbas, in turn, expressed appreciation for Jordan’s continuous support under King Abdullah II’s leadership and emphasized the importance of Hashemite custodianship over Jerusalem’s holy sites.

The meeting was attended by Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi, Director of the Royal Office Eng. Alaa Batayneh, and on the Palestinian side, PLO Executive Committee member Ziad Abu Amr, Presidential Diplomatic Advisor Majdi Khaldi, and Palestinian Ambassador to Jordan Ata Allah Khairi.
