‘Israel’ Olympic bobsled team allegedly robbed during training camp

Members of ‘Israel’s’ Olympic bobsled team were allegedly robbed before their scheduled debut at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, according to team officials.

The burglary took place at the team’s training apartment, where thieves stole their passports and gear. The incident was reported by team pilot AJ Edelman, who said the stolen items included specialized footwear, suitcases, and documents needed for international travel.

The loss of passports has added logistical complications as the team continues preparations while training abroad.

The four-man bobsled team includes AJ Edelman, Menachem Chen, Ward Fawarsy, and Omer Katz. They recently qualified for the Winter Olympics after competing in international events in the United States and Europe.

Notably, during the opening ceremony of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics at the San Siro stadium in Milan, the ‘Israeli’ delegation encountered a smattering of boos from portions of the audience. The ceremony was attended by approximately 61,000 spectators.

The reaction was widely linked to international criticism of ‘Israel’s’ ongoing assault on Gaza. Earlier the same day, protests labeled “ICE OUT” took place in Milan, alongside other pro-Palestinian demonstrations. Some activists had also been intercepted during the Olympic torch relay in December 2025.

Peaceful gatherings near San Siro included chants supporting Palestinians and opposing Olympic expenditures.
