The United States has urged its citizens to leave Iran immediately, citing growing security risks and disruptions across the country.

Security risks highlighted

The alert warned of “ongoing heavy security measures, road closures, public transportation disruptions, internet outages, and continued restrictions on mobile, landline, and national internet networks,” as well as the possibility of airlines reducing or canceling flights to and from Iran.

Americans were advised to anticipate internet disruptions, prepare alternative communication methods, and, if safe, consider leaving Iran overland via Armenia or Turkey.

Tensions rise amid diplomacy

The warning comes as US and Iranian officials hold talks in Muscat aimed at easing tensions between the two countries. The region has seen a significant US military buildup, and Washington has warned of potential strikes against Iran if it does not reach an agreement on its nuclear, missile, and regional policies.
