Egyptian president receives call from Iranian president amid US tensions

The spokesperson added that President Sisi previously emphasized this position to the US President Donald Trump during their bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Davos Forum, highlighting the importance of reaching a comprehensive settlement.

President Sisi also voiced Egypt’s hope that all concerned parties would prioritize dialogue to overcome differences and reach an inclusive resolution, reiterating Egypt’s support for all efforts in this direction.
For his part, President Pezeshkian said Iran seeks to resolve issues through diplomacy, according to the Iranian presidency. He expressed hope that the other party would be convinced that threats and the use of force would not compel Iran to negotiate.
President Pezeshkian added that war would not serve the interests of Iran, the United States, or the region, stressing Tehran’s keenness to strengthen political consultation and coordination with Egypt in support of regional stability.
